Kilnbook Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 31, 2026
In short
Kilnbook does not collect, sell or share your personal data. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising in the app. Your pieces, glazes, firings, photos and notes are stored on your iPhone and in the backups you choose to keep.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter in Kilnbook is saved in the app's storage on your iPhone. Daily backups are written to the app's folder in Files, or to a folder you pick. Exports are created only when you ask for them, and go only where you send them.
Camera and photos
The camera is used to photograph your pieces and read QR labels. Photos you take or pick from your library are stored in the app on your iPhone. They are never uploaded by Kilnbook.
Microphone and speech
When you hold the microphone button, Kilnbook turns your glaze notes into text. Recognition runs on your iPhone when the device supports it; otherwise Apple processes the audio under its own privacy policy. Kilnbook does not keep the recording.
Location
If you allow it, your approximate location is used to ask Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) for local humidity, so drying estimates match your studio's weather. Only rounded coordinates are sent, the request is not linked to you, and nothing is stored by Kilnbook outside your iPhone. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.
Subscriptions
Purchases and free trials are handled by Apple. Kilnbook receives only whether a subscription is active; it never sees your payment details. Manage or cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Apple Watch and widgets
The watch app, widgets and Live Activities read a small summary that Kilnbook keeps on your devices. It does not leave them.
Children
Kilnbook is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from them — or from anyone.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. Questions about privacy: write to the support address on the Kilnbook support page.
